History

Coleman Memorial Park was originally known as Mt. Lebanon and owned by members of the Coleman family who where known as Lebanon's "Royal Family."  In 1936, after members of the Coleman family presented a gift of their land to the City of Lebanon, Coleman Memorial Park came into existence.

The Park is run by a nine-member board of trustees with donations from citizens and the City and County of Lebanon.  In 1961, the last of five mansions, the "homestead," was demolished.  The Carriage House is the grandest of the remaining buildings.  Other buildings include the Entrance House, Ready House, and Exit House.  However, remnants of the mansions are scattered throughout the Park.  The Coleman's wanted the land to be enjoyed by the people of Lebanon as a place of peace, beauty and family enjoyment.

Originally Coleman's Park consisted of  five mansions, including those mansions built by Arthur, Horace, and John Penn Brock as well as George Dawson and Bertram Dawson Coleman.

At a cost of $1 per child, group tours can be arranged for schools, churches, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts....  Contact Melissa Wealand by calling 717-270-0742.
